Hello there! I’m Neale Blanden, or Mr. Blanden, as you prefer.
Since 1988, I’ve been immersed in the world of limited-run ‘zines, accumulating an impressive 34 years of experience. That’s a lot of photocopier toner under the bridge, let me tell you!
Thanks to the esteemed Grand Editor Dellar, I’ve now ventured into the realm of BIG BOY COMICS! With a dedicated page here to describe what BLAND! is all about, allow me to elaborate. It’s not tethered to any specific theme or recurring characters; such constraints would only lead to inevitable boredom!
BLAND! draws its inspiration from the likes of MAD, CRACKED, and The Underground scene, paying homage to luminaries such as R. Crumb, Basil Wolverton, and Harvey Kurtzman. Furthermore, it incorporates a diverse array of influences from the rich tapestry of ’80s and ’90s indie cartoonists.
In essence, VARIETY reigns supreme within the pages of BLAND!

Is a gaggle of longer strips, some printed and some never before! Plus a bunch of never before printed 1 page strips.
BLAND! No.2
…(UH-OH!) It does have a theme! It’s an all ‘cartoonist’ issue. Between 2014 to 2017 I drew a 1 page comic strip called ‘cartoonist’. I have lovingly hand-picked a ‘best of’ and thrown in a 3-pager made near the end of its run.
BLAND! No.3
Who knows what BLAND! No.3 will be about ?… I DON’T! But it will be hand drawn with quality and care with the finest inks and paper. COMPUTERS BE DAMMED! (Unless it’s for corrections as Photoshop is easier than white-out).
