TORN #1

Soon no longer available.

In the 80s I wrote a small super hero story on a character that seem to me to be a collection of all the books, films and characters that Id liked at the time.

With this story it was part of a larger universe I’d called TORN’s world. It gather a menagerie of comic characters I’d also wrote in other comic strips that where written by myself at the time.

All these stories where to be serialized in a comic strip titled TORN’S WORLD in a comic called REVERIE I first started to published in 1983. These however didn’t see print and sat on the shelve and within (head space) for years.

Torn#1 (2018) interior art: Peter Lawson

All characters had a designed look and/or an image I had fixed on paper. All these have been placed in an envelope and sealed for future generations to see. Fast forward to late 2017/2018 it was time to bring back the concept of TORN’s world. With a very lucky set of circumstances and with discussions with George Hall he agreed to write from my original story a new story based on the TORN “Beginnings” story arc. Wow and how did this turn out. Incredible! We where up and running.

At this stage the look of the characters needed an overhaul. So with our onboard artist Peter Lawson he designed the over all image of each character better than what I’d asked. Now looking back at Peters first adventure in the printed comic world of Australian comics and where he is now, it’s a monumental advancement on his achievement in this field of enjoyment/talent and TORN’s world!

TORN#2. Cover: Ash Madi

Peters first design based on the ideas I had with Billabong was awesome. He actually improved what I envisioned and because of his creative talent we now have many other artists asking to do covers for TORN, based on the unique characters within. I especially loved the suit Peter did for Billabong. Perhaps he should go into clothes designing as well?

The image on TORN#2 regular cover is by Ash Madi one of the Top 50 cover artists in Australia. Since the first issue I have expanded the creative group to encompass Writers, Artists, Colorists and Letterers to bring our new and ever growing readership the best feel good comics available in OZ. What are you thoughts?
